Volunteering with Citizens Advice

We can all face problems that seem complicated or intimidating and it can be difficult and stressful trying to work things out alone.

Nationally, Citizens Advice, have 21,300 highly trained volunteers who are invaluable to delivering our service and helping people find a way forward with the problems they face, and campaigning for changes to unfair policies and practices.

Getting involved

There are so many ways to get involved, from admin, fundraising,  and trusteeship, to helping our clients find the information and advice they need. Our volunteers give confidential advice online, over the phone, and in person, to help our clients resolve their problems.

Our volunteers help us deliver services across Cornwall.

Tenancy Project Lead

Citizens Advice Cornwall is a registered charity and offers free, independent, confidential and impartial advice to everyone, covering areas such as benefits, debt, employment, housing, consumer issues and discrimination.

Citizens Advice Cornwall is looking to recruit a Tenancy Project Lead; to line manage the tenancy training team and deliver a pre-tenancy training. The post holder will be required to devise and co-ordinate the delivery of training to social housing tenants and those who are waiting for a tenancy.
This role is current awaiting confirmation of funding approval.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

• Demonstrable experience and competency in developing and delivering training with an understanding of learning styles.
• Current experience of line management of a team, empowering and motivating them to achieve value and make a difference through their training delivery.
• Demonstrable experience of managing team objectives, reviews and sickness absence.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Already have knowledge or be willing to learn Housing Association tenancy training content.
• Fully familiar with Microsoft Office, e.g., Teams, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, record keeping and the production of training materials.
• To be respectful, patient, adaptable and confidential.
• An understanding of safeguarding principles, confidentiality and data protection principles.

• Salary Band: £22,888 – £24,968 FTE pro-rata

Tenancy Trainer

Citizens Advice Cornwall is a registered charity and offers free, independent, confidential and impartial advice to everyone, covering areas such as benefits, debt, employment, housing, consumer issues and discrimination.

Citizens Advice Cornwall is looking to recruit a Tenancy Trainer to deliver pre-tenancy training to potential applicants on the waiting list for social housing who have never managed a home before or who have been declined an offer of accommodation in the past.

This role is current subject to confirmation of funding approval.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

• Demonstrable experience and competency in delivering training with an understanding of learning styles.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Already have knowledge or be willing to learn Housing Association tenancy training content.
• Fully familiar with Microsoft Office, e.g., Teams, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, record keeping and the production of training materials.
• To be respectful, patient, adaptable and confidential.

£WiseUp Project Lead

Citizens Advice Cornwall is looking to recruit a £WiseUp Project Lead.

The Financial Capabilities Project is a 2-year pilot programme funded by European Social Fund through Community Led Local Development. Providing money management and financial awareness training to young people not in employment, education or training and young people leaving care in deprived areas within the Atlantic and Moor and South East Cornwall areas.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

• Recent financial capabilities advice experience.
• Current experience of delivering training and 1:1 support and guidance in a variety of ways to both small and large groups.
• Demonstrable team coaching and supervision experience.
• Ensure that all administration is carried out to a high standard, and that accurate performance monitoring statistics and reports are delivered on time and to specification to meet contract and funder deadlines.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Fully familiar with Microsoft Office, e.g., Teams, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, record keeping and the production of training materials.
• To be respectful, patient, adaptable and confidential.
• An understanding of safeguarding principles, confidentiality and data protection principles.
