Citizens Advice Cornwall is a registered charity and offers free, independent, confidential and impartial advice to everyone, covering areas such as benefits, debt, employment, housing, consumer issues and discrimination.

Volunteering with Citizens Advice

We can all face problems that seem complicated or intimidating and it can be difficult and stressful trying to work things out alone.

Nationally, Citizens Advice, have 21,300 highly trained volunteers who are invaluable to delivering our service and helping people find a way forward with the problems they face, and campaigning for changes to unfair policies and practices.

Getting involved

There are so many ways to get involved, from admin, fundraising,  and trusteeship, to helping our clients find the information and advice they need. Our volunteers give confidential advice online, over the phone, and in person, to help our clients resolve their problems.

Our volunteers help us deliver services across Cornwall.

Money WiseUp Administrator

Citizens Advice Cornwall have an Administrators Vacancy on our Money WiseUp Project at our Bodmin office.

Human Resources Manager

Citizens Advice Cornwall is looking to recruit a Human Resources Manager 

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will work with the Chief Executive Officer and Head of Operations to deliver and drive alignment of our people and organisational strategy. Citizens Advice Cornwall currently has four priority business projects, People and Culture, Sustainability and Resilience, Access & Reach and Governance.

To succeed in this role, you will need: 

  • To be a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
  • Demonstrable abilities as a strategic HR practitioner, developing a workforce and pay and reward strategy.
  • Experience in delivering a human resources service and support for the organisation’s management and leadership team in all aspects of people management and wellbeing.
  • You will have experience of developing a talent management and resourcing plan.
  • Be fully conversant with Microsoft Office Suite including excel, word, outlook, PowerPoint and Teams.
  • Have a sound working knowledge of current employment law and how this applies in the workplace.
  • Ability to provide and use people analytics to demonstrate strategic ideas and project delivery.

Money Advice Caseworker

Citizens Advice Cornwall is looking to recruit a Money Advice Caseworker 

As a caseworker you will be responsible for delivering high quality debt advice services to clients, via telephone, digital channels including webchat and email. 

You: 

  • Will have current working knowledge of debt advice and casework, including Breathing Space. 
  • Can demonstrate an awareness of current issues in debt advice and you keep yourself up to date in all aspects of debt.  
  • Will be an effective communicator both orally and in written matters with a particular emphasis on negotiating and representing clients.  
  • Will be respectful, confidential with analytical and solution focused approach. 
  • Can organise and prioritise own workload whilst delivering on deadlines and team targets.

Money WiseUp Project Lead

Citizens Advice Cornwall has vacancies for a Project Lead on our Money WiseUp Project in West Cornwall.  

A role with a real difference. You will be able to drive and develop this project working in your local community providing money management and financial awareness training to young people not in employment, education or training, and young people leaving care in deprived areas within West Cornwall and North, South East Cornwall.  

You can offer:

Energy Adviser & Champion

Citizens Advice Cornwall is looking to recruit an Energy Adviser & Champion 

Citizens Advice Cornwall is looking to recruit an Energy Adviser and Champion to provide advice and guidance to clients on how best to manage their energy, including energy saving initiatives, understanding the benefits of switching suppliers and how to do it.  Some home visits may be required when it is safe to do so. 

To succeed in this role, you will need: 

  • The successful candidate will be someone that can work with individuals but may also be comfortable holding information sessions for small groups. 
  • Current experience of advice work including issues involved in interviewing clients. 
  • Current energy qualifications or willingness to work towards. 
  • Experience of providing energy advice and dealing with fuel poverty 
  • Experience of working without supervision, managing own workload and achieving pre-agreed targets 
  • Ability to give and receive feedback objectively and sensitively and a willingness to challenge constructively. 
  • Good understanding of safeguarding principles and willingness to adhere to them. 
  • Good understanding of confidentiality and data protection principles. 
  • Ability to use and learn how to use new IT systems and packages, and electronic resources in the provision of advice, record keeping and document production. 
  • Ability to analyse and interpret complex information. 
  • Ability and willingness to work as part of a team and self-motivated. 
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
