Gill Pipkin - Chief Executive Officer

Gill’s main responsibilities are to ensure that Citizens Advice Cornwall is operating effectively and has the resources and support required to meet the needs of the clients, staff and volunteers. She is the main point of contact between the Trustees and staff and volunteers, and works closely with funders, partners, stakeholders and the national Citizens Advice body. Gill’s career started in hospitality and hotel management where she worked for over 30 years. She has also worked in the NHS and previously was Director for Samaritans of Cornwall at Truro, where she is still a volunteer.

Wailim Wong - Communications, Research & Campaigns Officer

Wailim is responsible for external and internal communications and publicity and runs a small team of dedicated volunteers working on Research and Campaigns. Originally from Truro, he joined Citizens Advice Cornwall in 2016 after working as a Senior Information Officer at the Cabinet Office and the Government’s Central Office of Information for 13 years. He also spent 12 years working as a journalist, sub-editor and content editor on the Western Morning News. He worked as a volunteer regional press officer for Amnesty International and is an active member of Amnesty’s Truro and Falmouth Group.

Helen Hoskin - Finance Manager

Helen is the Finance Manager for Citizens Advice Cornwall. She works together with her colleague, Finance Officer Wendy Coad, and they manage the day-to-day Finances of CA Cornwall. Helen lives locally to the Liskeard office, with her husband and two children. She joined Citizens Advice in June 2019, after working for Cornwall Council for 10 years. Helen studied and completed her AAT in 2005 and worked within various different organisations in accounting before joining us.

Michael Burke - Project Leader – Help 2 Claim, MASDAP, EUSS Projects

Mike is project lead for the HTC, MASDAP (specialist debt advice) and EU Settled Status projects. He joined Citizens Advice Cornwall in 2019. Prior to that Mike lived in London and worked for many years at New Scotland Yard, as chief law clerk within the legal department. He has two children with whom he explores wonderful Cornwall. He originally hails from Tipperary, Ireland.

Becky Moore - Service Delivery Manager

Becky is responsible for Core Service Delivery and runs a small team of dedicated supervisors and admin staff who work alongside our valued volunteers to deliver quality advice to members of the public. Originally from Nottingham, she joined Citizens Advice Cornwall in 2004 after her family relocated to Cornwall. Having previously worked as a Personal Assistant to the Senior Corporate Lawyer at a prestigious Nottingham law firm, she also spent 20 years working as a property management consultant. Becky initially worked for Citizens Advice Cornwall as a volunteer and part-time administrator in order to meet other friendly volunteers as she was new to the area, but she developed a passion for helping people, later became a full time Supervisor and has led initiatives such as the National Financial Capability Forum Project.

Pippa Cann - Business Development Officer

Citizens Advice Cornwall is a charity reliant on donations and grants. Pippa supports the CEO to apply to trusts and grant-giving bodies so we can continue working to help people in the county. She works with staff and volunteers to co-ordinate and support fundraising activities. Pippa spent 10 years working abroad, in Austria, the USA, Holland, Belgium and Nigeria, before returning to the UK in 2000 and has worked in the charity sector for over 20 years. She trained as a Citizens Advice volunteer adviser in 2007, and has worked as a debt specialist, fundraiser, volunteer coordinator and management trainer. These days she enjoys travelling in order to dance Argentine tango, and volunteers as a surf mentor with the Wave Project on the beautiful Cornish coast.

Janet Patient - Human Resources Manager

Janet’s role is a people focused one. Working together with the leadership team, bringing together people and organisational strategy to deliver a meaningful service for our clients and community. Janet has been a chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development for 20 years. She is a qualified person-centred coach and mentor and a mental health first aid trainer and is a listening volunteer for the Samaritans. She has a career spanning over 40 years working across private, public and third sector organisations, from a commercial radio station to the police service and everything in between.
